May as well get the rant over with, I downloaded IE8 yesterday, thought I'd give it a chance to redeem itself after the fiasco that was IE7, so installed it all went well, restarted as instructed and after my login i was welcomed to no msn connection and a re-skinned IE7 pretty much. Don't quite understand where Microsoft were trying to go with IE8 but to me seems to be exactly the same as IE7 (bar the re-skin). Also a few days before this I was met with a huge amount of frustration with what I thought was my loyal Internet surfing friend Firefox, I can't open a page in the same tab without it crashing, and i don't fancy opening every link i click in a new tab, I'd have over 50 of the buggers, so I'm at the moment using Opera and I may stick to it, until FF3.1 is released.And now onto the news, New hardware people. EVGA have bought out that company who made the "Killer NIC" and have made some changes to it. Such as 128mb - 256mb onbaord (DDR2 266Mhz) memory, a 400Mhz CPU (both models) and a PCI-E interface to deal with the latency issues. I personally don't think its worth the £80 - £120 price tag, I game fine with my onbaord NIC ("C" standing for Chip this time round) and don't experience lag, unless my dad is streaming movies from my network. Id rather spend that money on a new CPU to be honest, but I don't speak for everyone. The Killer Xeno
Lastly, according to a scientific study, action games help boost eyesight. Gives us another reason to spend 15 odd hours looking at a screen doesn't it, this is going to go in my book of excesses as to why PC's are better than going outside. See here
And lastly, I compleated F.E.A.R 2 yesterday so expect a review of that on Thursday or Friday.
