Jim was not convinced either. He saw through the thinly veiled news reports. He had packed up and left before the broadcasts were over. On route to the cabin he contacted Maestro, telling him the time was now. He had to leave.
If things here were bad, the other side of the pond was nothing short of chaotic. A failing economy and the removal of all the civil liberties that Americans held dear had brought the country to its knees. Thinly stretched and under equip, the US army was not able to handle the consequences when a large tanker, bound for research facilities, crashed on the outskirts of New York. Carried by strong winds, they chemical hit the city in the early morning rush. By nightfall, there was not a person left 'alive'.
